7am to 4pm Islands/Offshore

This is a specialized offshore trip for when fishing is within 30
miles of port. The speed of the Impulse allows us to make these
offshore runs in an 8-hour trip. This trip includes everything the
5-to-5 trips include.

Offshore Fishing:
In the spring and summer months, warm waters push into the Southern
California basin, bringing with them a variety of pelagic fish.
It starts in the spring when schools of yellowtail start migrating
up the coast of Mexico to the waters around the Los Coronados
Islands in northern Baja California. This hard fighting, sought
after game fish, is our target on spring trips. As spring turns
into summer, we head offshore to troll for tuna. Albacore are our
main target on early summer trips, but it is not uncommon to also
catch bluefin tuna on these trips. While trolling, the crew will be
scanning the water for floating pieces of kelp, called kelp paddies.
These kelp paddies hold yellowtail, as well as tuna.

During the heat of summer and into the fall, schools of yellowfin
tuna often migrate into local waters. While searching for schools
of tuna there is a good shot of hooking a striped marlin. Often
times floating kelp paddies will be holding dorado as well as
yellowtail this time of year.

When fall turns into winter our focus turns to the northern Baja
coastline where excellent fishing for rockfish and lingcod give
us plenty of action. Even in winter there is a chance of catching
yellowtail and bonito in these areas.

All of the fish targeted on our offshore fishing trips make
excellent table fare. In order to assure you're catch reaches the
dock in the best condition possible, the Impulse has installed a
refrigerated fish hold to store fish until the ride home, when the
crew will fillet and package your fish. When you depart the boat
your fish will be ready for the grill or sashimi, whichever you
prefer.
